Debuting in 1986, the American Gold Eagle coins always have high demand and popularity for both collectors and investors alike. As the official gold bullion coin of the US, this 2021 Gold Eagle coin is particularly special because it is the first major redesign of the entire program. The obverse will remain the same, however, both the silver and gold editions now depict the bald eagle in a more realistic form. This new release also means the 1986-2020 gold and silver coins are a completed first collection, but the platinum and palladium Eagle coins are not being redesigned at this time.

The obverse of the Gold Eagle coin maintains the resurrected Augustus Saint-Gaudens illustration. Lady Liberty proudly strides forward with a flaming torch in one hand and an olive branch in the other. These two objects combine to signify the concept of peace through strength. Rays of sunlight radiate from the US Capitol behind her.

The reverse of the Gold Eagle features a close-up image of the left side of a bald eagle’s head. Inscriptions surround the eagle including the country, weight, purity, denomination, “E Pluribus Unum”, and “In God We Trust”.
